Activities
We are investing our time as part of the CIC and its projects because the future is bright for
people in Cornwall, with opportunities to access various funding streams that might not be
available to individuals, but that will help many greatly to enhance their quality of life, health
and wellbeing.
The Company will be set up to deliver programmes that enable all ages to access first-hand
knowledge of food production and re-connect with the countryside. To provide a means of alternative
education for schools who have a duty of care to students that fall out of school and the
curriculum. To provide a stress free/ relaxing atmosphere for
anyone suffering from mental health issues, anxiety etc.
How will the activity benefit the community?
Being based on a working farm with cattle, horses and small livestock plus a meat cutting plant,
the community across the spectrum will benefit greatly by being able to enjoy the peace and
tranquillity here on the farm, along with having the opportunities of growing and learning about
where our food comes from, as well as being taught ancient crafts like butchery and how to look
after the countryside.
The CIC can have use of the sand school on Kilhallon Farm, which we call “ a beach on a farm with a sea view”, there are residents in Cornwall that have never been to the beach so we would organise
groups and clubs to use this service.
It could also be used for persons with disabilities who normally wouldn’t have access to the beach.
We would offer a chance and give experience to persons who want to get back to work, whether that
could be from illness or just wanting a career change or simply by rehabilitation like the military
transition back to civility.
The CIC would create employment for team leaders and educators, and also help groups such as Young Mums (or Dads), also provide opportunity for after school or holiday clubs for children to explore the land and what it has to offer. We will link up with community groups that don’t have access to such facilities that we can offer them.
We are in an area of Cornwall that has a high rate of poverty and apathy as shown in the Par & St
Blazey audit so the aims of the CIC is to share fun & education with everyone.
